Are Sugar and Exercise a Good Combination to Keep Your Body Healthy?

loads of sugar

Sugar is just one of the food content that health gurus avoid. But should you really avoid sugar too? Have you tried eating one little block of chocolate a day and experienced something bad about your health later on? How bad is sugar for your body? Is it even that bad?

As a matter of fact, nothing is inherently wrong with sugar since your nervous system depends on it to consume energy. Numerous studies have also proven that sugar isn’t generally bad for you.

With that, here are some false facts about sugar that you need to understand further.

Sugar causes hyperactivity.

How timely this is that Halloween will be on again in a couple of weeks. Sweets will be all over the place again, especially among children.

People usually consume larger amounts of sugar at events or special occasions where they are stimulated by many things around them, like meeting friends and enjoying the party. They’re just likely excited and happy, not sugar-high.

Based on many studies, there is no stable evidence that sugar causes hyperactivity in children.

Sugar causes diabetes.

Natacha Borrajo, a registered dietitian from Miami, Florida, believes that sugar doesn’t directly cause diabetes. “But, when additional calories, which can come from sugar, are consumed and not burned, they may be stored as fat,” she says.

Now this stored fat contributes to obesity, which risks you developing type 2 diabetes.

Brown sugar is healthier than white sugar.

Brown sugar is just literally white sugar. The difference is molasses are added back into it. That’s why it’s brown and may contain small amounts of minerals.

Natural sugar is better than processed sugar.

You might believe that granola bars made with natural honey are better for you than if it is made with corn syrup.

If you haven’t realized, all sugars are the same. Sugar in natural foods, like fruits, and sugar in a candy bar are the same. It’s the amount of sugar that differs.

Usually, candy bars have more sugar and calorie content per serving than a piece of apple has. Also, the natural sugars contain some minerals and other nutrients that desserts don’t.

“There is no sugar in this product!”

Here’s a fact: Yes, there is! Just because a food product advertises that it doesn’t have sugar in it, it most likely does. “No sugar added” means that they literally didn’t add any sugar to the product, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t already contain any sugar.

Remember, “ose” means sugar. Try to recognize it on the labels of the food you’re consuming.

How to Keep Your Body Healthy While Still Eating Sugar

Sugar is almost unavoidable. There is sugar in every type of food content you take in every day, and that’s completely fine. In fact, humans need glucose to survive. It’s a kind of nutrient you need to run your body as much as you can.

If you’re a big sweet tooth and can’t cut sugar out of your life, then there is a way for you.

Consume sugar in the most moderate amount. Like other things in life, sugar is only bad for you if you consume too much. Of course, you have to eat other nutritious foods to go with it, not just sugar alone.

Plus, the sugar is only a stored fat if you don’t burn it with proper exercise. If you’re one of those people who eat regularly without worrying too much about nutrition facts, at least do some regular exercise.

If you want to be in control of your health, you can join a fitness class. This way, you have someone who can teach you how to stay healthy and help you watch your discipline. Although fitness classes don’t have to be as intense as you think it is.

Another important thing you need to watch out for is how your body reacts to certain foods you eat. Listen to what your body tells you it needs. Since people’s bodies have different reactions to food intake and exercise, you should know if you need more food or exercise.

Thus, people also react differently to sugar as well. Some people might be sugar-sensitive or have low sugar tolerance and cannot consume sugar as you do. Some are even allergic. There are definitely some cases where sugar is completely bad for you, even if you’re taking it in a regular amount. That’s why you have to be aware of how your body reacts to it.

With proper discipline, willpower, and mindfulness, all is well with your physical health. Remember that anything you consume excessively is unhealthy, whether it’s fruits or candy bars or even too much exercise.
