Synopsis

At the age of seven, two kindred spirits find each other and form a powerful bond born on loneliness. John Myron is a First Nations boy who is not completely accepted into the small town of Spencer. Angela Wilson has been abandoned by a father who committed suicide, and is neglected by a mother who finds solace in drinking and one-night stands. Together John and Angela are guided by their friendship and by the First Nations spirituality that binds John’s people together.

As they mature into adolescence, their friendship strengthens. As John’s feelings for Angela intensify, he soon realizes that his love is unrequited. Choosing a path of her own, Angela attempts to gain control of her life by clinging to what she sees as an opportunity to escape the confines of her life in Spencer. Opportunity comes in the form of T.J., a popular young man determined to succeed. Sensing something sinister in T.J’s relationship with Angela, John tries to protect her but only manages to push her further away. His worst fears come true one tragic night when he rescues her from a shocking act of betrayal. Faced with its aftermath, Angela leaves town immediately, unaware that she has put into motion a string of events that will change the course of their lives.

As time passes, Angela tries to contact John, but her letters are never answered. She assumes he cannot forgive her for running away, but there is another reason for his silence.

Six years later, the burden of a terrible secret leads Angela back to her hometown where once her friendship with John has been a source of kindness and love.  Unexpectedly reunited, their spiritual bond is stronger than ever, having withstood time and adversity.  Harboring a secret of his own, John guides Angela to a shocking realization what will uncover the past…
