Synopsis

A lavish updating of Tolstoy’s classic 1876 novel chronicling the tragic romantic triangle formed when the wealthy, beautiful title character defies the social order and, though married, falls in love with a common soldier. Filmed entirely on location in Russia, this lush production features the compositions of Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev and Rachmaninoff.
