Actor Carlos Bernard found himself in trouble after a prank to arrest 24 co-star Mia Kirshner held up filming and cost producers a fortune.

Bernard, who plays Tony Almeida in the hit drama series, thought it would be funny to report Kirshner as a marijuana user to cop pals and have them arrest her on the set.

‘The L Word’ returns with humor, substance

Posted on: January 05, 2006 | Filed under: Television News, The L Word | 0 Comments

The lesbians of “The L Word” could serve as role models for their straight counterparts on “Desperate Housewives”: They’ve put a sophomore slump behind them to return more heartfelt and more playful.

Starting its third season Sunday (10 p.m. ET), Showtime’s drama about a circle of gay friends and lovers who move in the trendiest of L.A. circles has upped the emotional ante while restoring the light touch that graced the first season.

“The L Word” can’t match ABC’s series in ratings, still strong despite critics’ reservations about year two. But the action on “The L Word,” including a wrenching journey for tennis pro Dana and — wait for it — Alice’s fling with a vampire, makes Wisteria Lane look sleepy.

‘The L Word’ Returns with a Passion

Posted on: January 05, 2006 | Filed under: Television News, The L Word | 0 Comments

Passion, politics and poignancy — P words, all of ‘em — are in plentiful supply as Showtime’s “The L Word” returns for its third season starting Sunday, Jan. 8.

Set in and around the lesbian community of Los Angeles, the controversial series picks up pretty much where season two left off, with on-again, off-again lovers and new parents Bette Porter and Tina Kennard (Jennifer Beals, Laurel Holloman) already hitting stormy waters as they try to heal their fractured relationship.

Elsewhere, Bette’s sister, Kit (Pam Grier), finds new love in a very unexpected place, while sexy hairdresser Shane McCutcheon (Katherine Moennig) tries to abandon her old love-’em- and-leave-’em attitude for the sake of new girlfriend Carmen (Sarah Shahi), a feisty club disc jockey.
